✨ A New Neighborhood Tradition ✨

✨ Morningside Magic ✨

If you’ve lived in Charlotte awhile, you may have driven down Hillside Avenue in Myers Park around December to see their magnificent holiday lights display.

This winter, we’re taking inspiration from that neighborhood and creating a display of our own: Morningside Magic!

🤔 WHAT IS IT?

We’re inviting neighbors to help decorate the beautiful tree canopy on Morningside Drive with holiday light-covered balls.

Since this is our first year attempting this ambitious project, CMNA will provide resources to Morningside residents and ask all neighbors who are able to help create the orbs, with the goal of expanding the light display to additional neighborhood streets in future years.

🌲 HOW TO GET INVOLVED

For Morningside Drive Homeowners:

👉 Click here to sign up for free materials to create your lighted holiday balls.
(Please note that homeowners are asked to cover the cost of extension cords and electricity.)

📅 Display Dates: November 22 – January 10
We’ll gather afterward to take down and store materials for next year’s display.

For All Commonwealth Morningside Neighbors (including Morningside):

Join us for a Decoration Making & Hanging Party!

📅 Saturday, November 22 at 10:30 AM
📍 Pocket Park (corner of Commonwealth & St. Julien)

❄️ Gather with your neighbors for warm beverages, treats, and a new holiday memory!
Please bring gloves and wire cutters if you have them.

❤️ GIVE BACK

As part of this initiative, we’ll be collecting canned food and monetary donations for Nourish Up.

Our Neighborhood Yard Sale is Saturday, August 16th!

Planning to participate? Sign up to be on the map by August 14th!

🪧 Yard Sale: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
🥳 Social Hour: 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Whether your garage is packed or you’re just parting with a few treasures, every sale brings something special. Host solo or team up with a neighbor—it’s a great way to declutter, discover, and support our community!

After the sale winds down, let’s toast to cleared-out closets and secondhand treasures at the “pocket park” at St. Julien and Commonwealth. Bring your favorite beverage, browse Commonwealth’s newest vintage shop next door, and enjoy a summer afternoon together. Paco’s Street Corn will be providing food for purchase!

We can’t wait to see what you’ll have out on your lawns—and what gems you’ll find!

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Bike Parade - Join the Fun! 🇺🇸

Join us for a red, white, and blue celebration as we parade through the neighborhood! Decorate your wheels, wave your flags, and bring your festive spirit as we kick off summer together!

Set up a tailgate along the route, cheer on the parade, and enjoy the fun from the sidelines! There will be prizes for the best decorations and more at the end of the parade!

Date: Monday, May 26

Time: Starting at 10am

Location: We’ll kick it off with our local firetruck at the top of Ivey Drive, continue over the pedestrian bridge, and end at the Pocket Park (St. Julien x Commonwealth).
